My name is Joe Michaud and I am an unusual sort of web developer.
You see, I have 15 years of experience working for a variety of small businesses in different capacities. I’ve been the hourly clerk, the design engineer, the globe-trotting super-salesman, and even the owner.
Yes, my resume is a total disaster – But I have seen the inner workings of all sorts of small businesses and have learned that we all face the same, huge, frightening challenge every day – Getting customers!
More importantly, I’ve learned how to build cost effective systems that attract prospects and cultivate buyers – with little or no effort on the part of you or your staff. But I’m getting a little ahead of myself here…
Today’s economy has not made our lives any easier – There is no denying – “the going has gotten tough”. Consumers are setting aside their credit cards and big companies are paying for past exuberance by closing their doors.
As the saying goes, every raincloud has a silver lining and the same is true here. New opportunities are being born from the turmoil. It turns out that all these hundreds – possibly thousands – of big-business closings have orphaned millions of buying customers! As you are reading this, countless new clients are out there looking for someone new to win their trust and their money. It could be you!
Those entrepreneurs willing to build systems that cultivate prospects by genuinely earning their trust are the ones who will ultimately emerge victorious – and probably fairly wealthy.
These systems are what I am in the business of providing – websites are just the form that they take. I know that this is an enormous claim and I would be a bit skeptical if I were you. If you will keep reading, I will explain exactly how I came to possess this uncommon set of skills and how they can be put to work for you.
It started when I was a teenager. I knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur “when I grew up” so I took jobs with small companies and startups where I thought I could learn.
I was looking for a mentor, someone who knew how to build a successful business — almost at will – and would train me to do the same. I knew that these “captains of industry” existed because I had read too many case studies to believe otherwise.
Imagine my dismay when I finally realized that in 12 years I had never met a CEO, VP, or venture capitalist who really knew how to grow a successful business… they were all guessing!!
| Don’t get me wrong, most these guys were fiercely competent operations managers. They knew how to build systems that get products out the door quickly, reliably, and inexpensively. They just couldn’t seem to apply their skills to getting new customers.
In fact, some threw staggering amounts of money at getting new customers and often with such bleak results that they choose not to keep track.
My experience with them was not a total waste – I did learn how to build solid business systems that last for many, many years.
After being laid off from another failing startup, run by one of the before mentioned CEOs, I decided to start looking in some unusual places. Though I have always been fascinated with – what I then called – “get rich quick schemes”, I also knew that the people selling the schemes were the ones making all the money.
My question was why do people fall for them??
I was amazed by what I discovered and it has forever changed the way I think about sales and marketing.
By chance, I stumbled across a very wealthy guy who has been in the “opportunity market” market for 30 years with a small base of loyal, repeat customers. I thought that this market was filled entirely with scam artists but this guy kept selling to the same customers for decades!!!
When I looked even closer, I realized that his customers were not only wealthy themselves, but most were in completely unrelated industries.
For example, I have seen markets dominated by some very ordinary businesses such as:
That’s right, they all charge more than their competition and still have all the clients they can handle.
I’ve now spent hundreds of hours (and more money than I care to admit) learning the jealously guarded secrets of these millionaire entrepreneurs.
What is what they all have in common?
They are all masters of “direct marketing”, which is a very specific method of attracting clients that works every single time it is applied correctly. It seems strange to me that direct marketing isn’t a better known science… that so few entrepreneurs and small business owners know it even exists or how to take advantage of it.
